    1. Overview

Gambling Site Blocker ("we", "our", or "the extension") is a privacy-first browser extension designed to help users block access to online gambling and betting websites. We are committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains how we handle your data.

    2. Data Collection

We do not collect, store, share, or sell any personal data.

    • No User Accounts: The extension works offline without requiring an account.
    • No Analytics: We do not use Google Analytics, Mixpanel, or any third-party tracking scripts.
    • No Browsing History Collection: We do not transmit your browsing history to any server. All URL checking happens locally on your device.

    3. Local Data Storage & Permissions

The extension uses your browser's local storage (chrome.storage.local) for the following purposes:

    • Settings: Storing your preferences (e.g., Dark Mode, Strict Mode).
    • Statistics: Storing a local counter of "Blocked Sites" and "Resisted Urges". This data never leaves your device.
    • License Key: If you purchase the optional Commitment License, your hashed password and license status are stored locally.

    Permissions Explanation

    • declarativeNetRequest: Used to block network requests to known gambling domains.
    • host_permissions: Used to redirect blocked sites to a local "Safety Page" (blocked.html) and to detect gambling keywords on search engines (if enabled).
